These 20 Wholesome Comics Beautifully Depicts about what’s going on between Animals

It’s simple to assume that cute creatures are as pure and nice on the inside just by looking at them. However, do they really? For all we know, they may be thinking the same negative things we are. What if all those interesting noises they produce don’t actually mean anything lyrical and simply translate into the same boring discussions we have?

Even if their priorities are more survival-related than anything else, it’s fascinating to consider what they could think or say if confronted with some of the same problems as us. Josh Barkman, a Canadian cartoonist from Kitchener, Ontario, has had a lot of fun doing this in his comic strip “False Knees,” in which birds, raccoons, and other animals engage in amusing dialogue with one another, cope with nature’s cruelty, and ponder whether life has any significance or worth.

The show departs from the usual internet animal tales by showing woodland creatures who are experiencing a variety of existential problems. Barkman found his perspective and the abilities to use them, and his Instagram following is now slowly rising above 716,000. Joshua creates very gorgeous comics—the lines, the hues, etc. His exquisite frames are like windows into the natural world. Check out some of his best illustrations here.
